Our Mission
Oak Bay Firefighters are 31 community driven firefighters committed to serving Oak Bay through our profession, and volunteer work while off duty. We have created and registered the Oak Bay Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation to raise and infuse money back into the community we protect.
Oak Bay Firefighters are members of the Internationl Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1856. As a group of dedicated unionized firefighters we are active in our community – organizing charity events, fundraising and supporting local groups by volunteering our off duty time. We have been unionized since 1969 (56 years). Yes, we are “paid” firefighters, but we are also a large part of this community’s charitiy.
We ensure that the community has the support of your Oak Bay firefighters. Fundraising, volunteerism, and engagement in events is our way to give back to the community that supports us. Every member has 100% dedication to the job, working countless overtime shifts to ensure that Oak Bay is protected 24/7/365. A long history in Oak Bay, over 55 years of dedicated service and protection of our residents.
